Bryn Mawr’s Dance Company is one of the most unique and engaging aspects of the school. Their performance is always well thought out and showcases a wide variety of  themes and styles.

At this year's performance, as per usual, dances were choreographed by a wide range of students as well as Ms. Tankersley and Ms. Parrot. Ms. Tankersley choreographs most of the dances, the seniors are able to choreograph their solos and some underclassmen were able to choreograph dances as well. Also, a unique feature of this year's show was the dance choreographed and performed by black student union. Black Students Unions dance represented current social issues and used powerful music to convey their message. All of the dances required lots of time and effort to perfect. Starting at the beginning of the year, the dancers rehearse from 3:30-5:30 three days a week. This schedule continues until the February show but with additional practices depending on the year, number of pieces, and number of people involved in the dance.

Dancing as a group forms a close bond that was definitely present in the BMS Dance Company. Sloane shares that, "although we [dance company] work hard, we are able to have a lot of fun too. At the end of the day, we all feel very comfortable together to be ourselves, and our show always reflects that...and Tank gives us so many opportunities to contribute to dances, be ourselves, and have fun."

Lauren MacDonald (’21), after watching the performance, was impressed with the variety of styles at the dance company performance. She shared that she, "really like[d] the integration of different styles of dance. I could tell that a lot of thought and preparation went into each number. The energy levels of the dancers were also fantastic; they looked very involved and devoted to what they were doing."

The Dance Company performance was the perfect way to showcase the many talents of Bryn Mawr girls. Extensive effort went into this event, and the performances did not disappoint.
